An Autumn Meditation

An Autumn Meditation for letting go.

Find a place where you will not be disturbed or distracted. Find a comfortable, seated position.

Breathe in, noticing the path of the air from your nostrils to the back of your throat, down your lungs and into your tummy making it expand.

Exhale slowly and gently, observing the breath leaving your body. Continue to breathe like this 9 times, observing the flow of your breath and then allow your breathing to return to its natural pattern.

Visualise yourself walking through an Autumn forest, full of trees. Feel the Autumn breeze around you, making some of the leaves dance. Hear the crunch of the carpet of leaves beneath your feet. As you walk through this forest think of the things that you are ready to let go from your life, they could be attitudes, fears, relationships, things, beliefs. Give thanks for the manner in which these things served you and let them go, see them floating off into the air, imagining them as Autumn leaves, watch them fly away, going further from you until they land on a pile of dead leaves. Imagine them going deep into the pile, into the earth, mixing with it and becoming part of it.

Breathe in deeply once more and slowly exhale and when you are ready open your eyes.
